brand new day

When I think of the inauguration I, like so many others today, feel full of a certain joy that I think really only occurs when you’ve been living with something kind of awful for a really long time. And then one day it’s lifted away from you. Then, kind of like those annoying Claritin commercials – the world is brought into a sharp and clear focus. Usually with things like this, you don’t even notice how foggy things were until someone leans over pulls your glasses off your face and starts polishing them with his shirt. Yup, icky but true, and done by countless people in my lifetime.

Anyway, back to that badass clarity.

If I were to share all the things I feel freed from, even if it were just those that have occurred in the past year, I’d be writing all night. For now I’ll just say that being free and starting over, and having that freedom and newness reflected in what’s currently going on in this country is, well, pretty freakin awesome. And even though my cynical friends will tell me to stop letting myself get worked up about it, I am gonna be psyched for a minute and relish a bit and let time sort the rest out as it always seems to do.

Oh yes, one other thing -  I was checking out one of my marketing blogs today and I have to note the fact that even if the next 4 years don’t live up to our expectations which they most likely will not, at least I can revel in the awesomeness that is the Obama marketing effort. Whether you’re old, young, or in the middle, most of us (at least most of us here in NY) have seen the now famous logo. I also noticed the pretty impressive site overhaul that was rolled out at whitehouse.gov today. I do think it would be an awful lot of fun to be part of that team.

I guess these are just some random afternoon thoughts from liquidjill, but I’ll leave you with this image, speaking more loudly then I ever could.

Brenda, the next one’s on you.
