This morning I woke up ready to really get things started in the new year. For breakfast I had my favorite yogurt and a banana.

I also sprinkled a few currants in the yogurt, yum!

Right now I’m having a cup of peppermint tea and planning to write a bit, update some software and then head out to the gym around noon. I would run outside but today, with windchill it’s about 19 degrees in Brooklyn and that’s just a tad chilly for outdoor running. I’m no fan of the treadmill though believe me and I look forward to next week when all the hot yoga classes are back in normal, non holiday rotation. Running has always calmed me though, and I know that if I tough it out for an hour I’ll be happier all day and tonight I’ll really sleep well.
I admit most of my day yesterday was in recovery. I had an amazing New Years, but I probably should have done like one of my favorite bloggers and switched to seltzer around 11.The midnight champagne toast was fun, but yesterday morning? Not so much. We were incredibly lucky with cabs though and Jeni and I got home safe and sound. Here’s us toasting in the New Year.

Today I am fully recovered though, and I’m looking forward to some adventures around the city this afternoon. Someone said something about longboarding. In 20 degrees. Should be interesting!
By the way, I found myself a late holiday gift on Amazon last night. It’s perfect for work (which will save me replacing my water bottle once a week, awful I know!) and it’s stainless steel and bpa free. If I fill it 1/4 way then it won’t be too much weight in my bag so I plan on taking this everywhere. Yoga, work, gym, train etc. Perfect.
