So it’s probably pretty clear that my new job has taken all that fun filled blog writing spare time and eaten right on up. No complaints from me – though I do miss the personal writing aspect.
On the bright side, I am writing every day for this job. I get to be creative, so much so in fact that – (dare I say?) – I feel completely empowered by it. For the first time in any line of employment I’ve had I get as much autonomy as I’d like AND those decisions get to carry right through to the final, published product.
Besherit comes back to mind when I think of all the resumes, cover letters, job interviews, 2nd 3rd and 4th interviews and general heartache over the whole endeavor. Now I’m on a team of people who are like minded in their approach to living, that work should be fun but life is more important and never to sacrifice health or family for a job. On the other hand, they are some of the most dedicated and competent people I’ve come across, probably for the very reason that they feel fulfilled both in, and out of work.
Today is Halloween, and I’ve got some pretty interesting plans involving a critical mass bike ride and afterparty with Wendy. The weather, after a week of frigid bone chilling wind and rain is back to lovely fall awesomeness – perfect for the evenings activities. I’m wrapping up my day on my shiny Dell I can take home with me (yay!), and looking forward to a late fall/ winter full of all kinds of great things. Like health insurance, and snowboarding, travel to Connecticut for lunch with my cousin and lot of visits from out of town friends.
Funny how many people want to come and visit you when you live in Brooklyn. Not that I blame them or anything, and plus, there is so much to do here, and so much of it is dirt cheap or free that if you know me, you really should visit too.
So let me know, and drop on by. Things just keep getting better around here.
