So I’ll admit the last post was kind of a bummer. I didn’t really set out to write a diatribe on the trials and tribulations of the old apartment, it just kind of tuimbled out once I started. The thing is, I started this blog to document what moving to NYC is really like for a young single woman doing it alone. And as it turns out, bad apartment and (really bad) roommate choices are often part of that equation.
On the brighter side, I’ve learned so much from every mistake and I think I can now count myself as something of an apartment finding guru in NYC. No small feat!
So i’m really starting to get settled into my new digs. I’ve joined the local gym and I’m looking forward to a hot yoga class this evening after work. I have a fridge full of fresh veggies and some soba noodles for a delicious dinner afterward. I was thinking that I might start taking some pics of my dinner creations and posting them, I certainly read enough food blogs so I might as well do my part to contribute – right?
Also, I had my housewarming party on Saturday and I have to say I was awed at number of people that fit comfortably in my new space. I think around midnight I had nearly 20 people eating, drinking and having a generally good time. Since my previous space worked for about 1/3 people comfortably it was a pretty inspiring change. At one point I just stood back from it all and grinned stupidly, happily. The gifts and company, spirit and camaraderie of friends was amazing and more welcome than I can explain. As the cold winter approaches I have a whole lot more in my life to keep me warm this year. I’ll keep ya posted.
