Sunday night I spent the better portion of the evening cooking meals for the week. To give you an idea of the sheer number of portions I create, here’s a peek into my fridge:

I’ve found that if I make a nice reasonable portions like these it really helps me to keep from becoming overfull. I much prefer to get hungry again and have an apple for an afternoon snack than to feel bloated and icky after lunch. It does take sometime and work, but it’s delicious, cheap and I know what I’m eating each day. All good things!
This morning was kinda rough. I woke up feeling a head cold coming on and basically spent the rest of the day doing absolutely everything within my power to fight it. I started with going straight back to bed for a couple of hours followed by a breakfast of 1/3 sup steel cut oats, 1 tbsp soy milk, 1 tbsp almond butter and 1 tbsp flax seed. I took some airborne as well and committed to drinking 3 liters of water before dinner.
Thankfully it all seems to have worked and I think (hope!) after another good night of sleep I’ll bounce right back.
In the meantime I’d like to share an affirmation inspired by healthy lifestyle choices. I don’t think that affirmations are for everyone, and I know they definitely didn’t have a place in my life until recently but I have to say they are so much more welcome than the negative things I used to fill my internaldialogue with. I am a firm believer in the concept of thoughts making things so – creative visualization if you will.
I try to focus on breathing and use this mantra last thing before bed and then first in the morning, I’ve also found that saying and thinking it for others helps me feel a little less silly about thinking/saying it for myself. Here’s my example for the evening, I would say it as it is and then replace the “May you be” with “I am”.
May you be well.
May you be happy and peaceful.
May you be free from all danger and suffering.
May you be filled with love and kindness.
May you be trusting in the creative flow of life
Off to bed!
